Was tooling on down the interstate on the way home from work, in a particuarly nice traffic day. This little grey Civic DX, someone please tell me what a DX model is, passes me on the left and SMASHES the brakes on about a car length ahead. At this point I'm stuck behind a little ol lady doing about 45 in a bit of traffic. The guy riding shotgun rolls his window down and asks me if that's supercharged. I'm thinking this is the old Saturn, and digging for the middle windows switches, nodding yes like that retarded animation that MotorMouth had in his sig for a while. Keep in mind I'm having to look back and forth to not hit someone so my details are a bit sketchy. After the passenger asks me, and I nod like an idiot for about a min, I notice the HUGE tach, and either a silver button, or what I am pretty sure was a gauge of some sort right in the middle of the dash. It was either NO2, or a boost gauge, cause something the kid did after that made the car let out a big 'hissing' sound. To me, it SOUNDED more like gas, than a BOV. These guys have a clear shot in an open lane, and they're not budging, they want a piece of the Saturn.

Well, they got it.

The lil 'ol lady got outta the way, as soon as she put on her blinker I looked over, and the kid driving was all grins. Too bad we were doing almost exactly 40mph, cause when she moved, he dropped it, pulled his nose in front, just as I dropped to second. The rest of the story is pretty common, supercharger makes loud noise, kid in the passenger side is visibly suprised, and the Saturn starts putting distance on em. Couldn't go for too long, just from about 40-90 or so. Had about 2 cars on em, maybe less.

Nice guys though, dropped back, looked over and smilied at em. Kid in the passenger side gave me this 1/2 surprise, 1/2 shocked nod and a thumbs up, and we just drove down to the road for a few miles... of course, right before they got off the highway, they floored it around like 4 cars, almost hit a merging car and shot down the offramp at a speed that I was sure was going to end up in a crash. I guess they lived though...

The thing was a total sleeper other than that... it was fast for a Civic, do the DX even have the Vtec?

umm stock no..

most kids who actually make thier honda go fast do a motor swap to a B series motor. The DX model is no power windows, no power locks, no tach, no vtec. It's one of thier commuter models. It's one of the lighter models, the weight could be anywhere from 2200-2400 depending on which generation you faced. The CX is actually thier lightest model and that is around 2000lbs stock.

I got smoked by a kid with a civic cx w/ b18c1 I/H/E and nitrous. it wasnt even close. It was only a race for like 1/8 of a mile and he had me by 2 car lengths. I dont even want to know how bad it would of been if we had more road.

my friend has a civic

my friend has a 94 civic and it has the b18c(itr) and a turbo kit and we run low 11 with it so they are fast but the only problem with it is that when we are out on the street and do not get a good burn out to heat up the tires we get beat alont un less it is from a start so since i am getting a redline i will race him on the street and tape it to let u guys know how it went but yes they are fast

Here is a race of my lil ol red car against a fast civic:

My car jumped out to a 2 car lead and held it till the end, the Civic though was right there till the end, then he got on the brakes as we both trapped, notice how close he is to my car, even though the scorboard would indicate a rout, again this was because he got on the brakes alittle too soon..

Why would he turbo a B18C instead of getting a cheapass LS motor? I thought that the LS motor was better for turbos beccause of the lower compression (and availability).

I'm not gonna pretend I knew exactly what was in there, but it was much quicker than the Civic DXs that I would rape with my old SC2 though...

YOU GUYS NEED TO WATCH FOR THESE GUYS, i dp motor swaps all the time for these cars. and there are some that will smoke a redline stock for stock. and possible even a upgraded redline. especially the ones the we take a civic hatch and use a h22 prelude motor in, we frankenstien the heads, put a big fat turbo on it and lower the compression. we see usually over 350+ whp and they are much lighter than we are.granted these kids spend a lot of money to do this but the cars are pretty fast when done right
