I can see that maybe the Maxima is faster than the redline. Here's the numbers i found at Car&Driver Mag. Depends on what trim of Maxima. This one below seems to be the most potent, 6sp man tranny, DOHC V-6 (265hp and 255ft-lbs tq). The car is heavier, but depending on gearing and driver experience, it looks like it may be faster. Anyone see the need for a challenge to clear this up???

the 260 hp v6 model in 6 speed runs the 1/4 in 15.1 not going to beat a redline

I'm seeing times that range from the high 14's (14.7) to the low 15's. I think you'd be side by side. How many of them actually have the manual though? I have a guy at the office here with a brand new one, he said it was a pretty crazy increase for the 6-spd manual, at least when he bought his. He's a car guy too, told me that there was no way in hell he was paying for the 6-spd. He's got the money too, that's for sure, just said it was a terrible value!

Bottom line, if people are claiming to take newer GTP's then they should be taking the Maxima's. The brand new ones are 270 horsepower too now, correct?

Motortrend has the maxima at 14.8. The 3.5 altima is a tenth or two quicker.
A stock GTP 04 and newer run 15.0 to 15.2. Do not underestimate the 97-03 gtp
I am selling my 98 gtp coupe that I modded with about $700.00-it ran 13.9. Last
winter I bought A new pcm for it which made a noticable difference. What I am getting at is be careful, my gtp will smoke my redline in a heartbeat for about a grand in mods.

Here we go with the 'if he had $____ in mods, he'd smoke you'. Well, I saw a Redline with some 'mods' run 215mph on the salt flats, so what does that say? Nothing. Stock to stock. MAXIMA vs. Redline.
