Marcus Crebo here from Saturn of Peoria, IL ...
On October 17, 2004 Saturn of Peoria commissioned me to take one of our Redline ION demo's to a test & tune event at Cordova Dragway Park. As you would expect the Redline transported us flawlessly to and from the track.
Once at the track I unloaded all the misc. travel items, but made sure to leave all factory components such as the spare tire for an accurate representation of street weight.
After the standard tech. inspection I pulled a number of quarter mile passes. The ET's started out at a lack-luster [email protected] That first run included a 2.591 60 ft. time with wheel spin galore as I got used to the ION's dynamics. Eventually I was able to hone that ET down to a [email protected] with my best 60ft of the day at 2.212 seconds. Along the way the ION pulled off a number of 14.6's, 14.7's and 14.8's! Considering GM reported a [email protected], I was impressed to say the least.
For the record the quickest runs were with normal tire pressures. Lower tire pressures did not help tire spin much and the top end mph. suffered. All runs were completed using 93 octane fuel from a local gas station and absolutely no modifications were put in place.
I will try to get a copy of the best time slip uploaded soon, but until then I'll list off the numbers.
.589 - R/T
2.212 - 60'
6.217 - 330
9.449 - 1/8
75.91 - MPH
12.215 - 1000
14.544 -1/4
96.31 - MPH
So the Redline's can run...Go get 'em.
