tach assistance

i bought the tach adaptor and hooked everything up but the tach doesnt seem to run right. i was wondering what wire from the coil did any of you cut and tap into, and also where did you mount your ground and 12v from the tach. if anyone can assist please help! ive tried everything. i mean the tach works its just runs about a grand less than the stock one does.
