Tire Prices

Nice thread!!!

What other tires has anyone been playing on? The stock tires suck in the snow, so i was forced to buy new tires immediately since it snowed like 6 inches the day before i bought my RL. So this is what I got:

http://www.mastercrafttires.com/us/en/displaylarge.asp?file=avengerHP.jpg&name=Avenger+HP

They are Mastercraft Avenger HP tires made by Cooper Tires. I picked these up for $86 a piece at a local performance/detailing shop, they are Mud & Snow rated, and so far, i seem to like them. They are a little harder than the stock Dunlop Sport SP 9000, but still have pushed them hard with no difference than the OE tires. Just something to look at.

I just ordered Falken Azenis Sports in 225/45-17 from www.tires.com (Discount Tire) for $109 each. Other tires I recommend, as a long-time tire and wheels guy and suspension specialist, is the Dunlop FM901 or Yokohama AVS Sport.

You guys are burning though your tires already? How many miles? I am running a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2's for the winter (same size as OEM) with a set of aftermarket rims meant for a SAAB 93 (they fit and were cheap). They work well for those snowy Michigan days.

Tire wear

I just needed to get snow tires. I only have 3 days on the OE tires and 7 days on the Avenger HP tires.

No, my tires are great, but I want something vastly more agressive and stickier than the OE Dunlops. I won a karaoke contest, so it's a free $750, so my wife doesn't mind me getting new tires without budgeting for them...

Here's the tires I'm getting:

I'll sell the OE Dunlops on ebay.

LOL, hmm you sang for your tires now I have heard everything. :)
Nothing new with me! I did the smart thing and gave my wife the first $200 right on the spot...

I have another contest this Saturday...first prize is $500 and a Dale Earnhart, Jr authographed leather Budweiser jacket - if I win, the jacket will go on ebay, and the $500 may go into a header and intake and high-flow cat.

The preliminary contest was in Quakertown, the finals were in Lansdale. The contest Saturday is at the Red Stallion (stupid name) in Hatboro.

I bet I could get a set of tires for my singing............They'll buy me a new set of tires to get me to shut muh yap :D

Oh and I have about 18,000 miles on my tires, my front ones are practically bald  but my back tires don't look nearly as bad. Maybe I'll just rotate em. I wonder if Discount Tire knows how to keep the uni-directional things on right?!?

I HAVE been paid to stop singing - I was in a bar in Cody, Wyoming, my girlfriend wanted me to sing "Bust a MOve" by Young MC - I did, the place was rocking, and this old crusty cowboy-looking dude walked up and told me he'd give me $20 if I shut down the song. Hey, I was the DJ, no problem!!

Wow, Young MC? In Cody? I've been there, a couple o times on the way to Yellowstone and such. That's brave man! I was a bit nervous to turn the stereo up because we were WAY outnumbered. I don't think they cared for the Illinois plates either!

They love the money tourists bring in, they just don't like them staying - kind of a Catch 22.

5000 miles and on my second set of tires........BTW, with balding tires these cars do worse than anything I have ever driven....Smacked a curb with the back right tire. Bent the rear axle, carrier, rim and it cost insurance and me about 2400 bucks to get it fixed......

Ummm, why are you driving on bald tires? And smacking curbs? Neither aspect is cheap.
