i own a 99 mustang gt...the one colin's been talkin about...laser red with bbk cold air intake, ford racing heavy duty clutch, trick flow upper intake plenum kona short throw shifter pacesetter off road h-pipe bbk mil eliminators flowmaster american thunder cat back...me and colin were at gandy this past weekend...we run numerous times...i was interested in seeing how much his header helped him, compared to the last dozen times we've raced...we pull onto the bridge heading towards dale mabry...he has one passenger i have 2...we get staged at our normal 50 roll...which for me is 3rd gear, at 3k...he gives the honors of 3 honks...i downshift into second...tires break loose...he pulls ahead...my nose at his rear bumper...i hit 3rd...still the same...i begin to pull late 3rd into 4th gear i continue to pull stretchin 4th out to 6k into 5th i have made my way ahead of him by maybe half a car...we shut down at 125-130...we go again coming the opposite way on the bridge...this time he catches me in a lower 3rd...ima say about a 40 roll...i downshift...he pulls a car again...this time i couldnt catch up...tie ball game...this is the way it goes just about every time...he gets me from a 50 roll every now and then but at a 40 roll he takes it...now...as for his other post about the mach 1...to the kid who said the mach ones have 305 hp to the wheels is full of shit...they come with 305 at the crank from the factory...calculate it being a 5 spd. with a 15% driveline loss and u have urself roughly 259hp to the wheels...now u have to take into the account of the power to weight ratio...which would slightly be in the upper hand of the mach 1...considering my car's gross vehicle weight rating is at 4260lbs...it is possible for his car to beat a stock mach 1, with an above average driver...even if it's a "girl" which means nothing...

the Redline held its own!
And in reality GT's dyno at even less than that. Considering the weight why is it even surpising that he stayed with you?

Since when goes a mustang GT weigh 4200lbs? I thought they were more like 3300

Before you call people full of shit about the Mach1, go here- www.mach1registry.com and see what Mach1's actually dyno. The 300HP to the WHEELS was a car with JUST a Mac Prochamber exhaust. Stock they are seeing 280-290hp to the Wheels. Which is why it couldn't be possible he beat one when he can't even beat a lightly modified 99 GT. Just to "clear up".
okay if u know so much...then u would know that there are 2 diff. types of dynos...loaded...and unloaded...a loaded dyno will give you much more of an accurate reading...u also have to take that into consideration
4200 lbs, u must have one fat ass stang..damn thats more then an 03 cobra vert!!
the weight i gave is not the curb weight...which is the weight of the car with a full tank of gas and no passengers...i didn't know the curb weight for my gt so i gave u the gross vechile weight...which is a full tank full cargo and passengers...gvw for the redline stands at 3703lbs...curb weight for my car is 3273lbs
Ford coulda underrated the Mach 1 like GM did to our FBodies: LS1 FBodies were crank rated at 305-310 for the non-WS6 and SS models, and 320-325 for the WS6 and SS, yet they all dyno around 300-320 to the rear wheels, which puts them at about 345-365 crank h.p.

It's funny because the 'Vette was rated by crank h.p., and the FBodies were actually rated at the wheels, but GM didn't announce it that way lol. Also, the 'Vettes generally tend to dyno a little less at the wheels than the FBodies do because the independent rear suspension on the 'Vettes eat up a bit more h.p., but they have a 200 lb weight and aerodynamic advantage over our cars which is why they're slightly quicker and faster.

Damn, that was a lot of LS1 schooling. Sorry guys lol.

Anyways, back to the original topic: is it possible that Ford underrated the Mach 1's (which I love BTW)?
A buddy of mine has a Mach 1 (automatic) with an exhaust and runs 13.5's all day at the track. So there is no way that car is going to beat a Stock or lightly modded Mach 1.
Keeping up with a gt does not equal beating a Mach 1. That is all.
The RL's aftermarket is not here yet, so the RL can hang with a 04 Mustang GT, not a Mach1.

The Psi-FI Redline killed the stock Redline. So who can set the Psi-Fi RL and Mach1 race up?
From a roll, I can easily see an IRL hanging with a '99-'04 GT. The IRL and GT are only within a half second from eachother in the 1/4 mile, and that's mostly because of the GT's ability to launch better.

Here is what this is saying to me. First you don't know how to mod your car, you have a cold air which is pointless. Who has heard of a kona shifter for a mustang or a pacesetter off road h. Flowmaster catback is worth a hp or 2. So basically you have a offroad h and plenum, for performance (probably around 10rwhp). With extra weight you pull on his modded redline up top. Up top is where the mach 1 is going to shine. 4v Mach 1 > Mustang gt 2v up top by far. So since you pulled him up top with extra weight, how is he going to pull a mach. Not going to happen unless they aren't really racing.
Thanks for the lesson on dyno's  But yes the mach1 was underrated by Ford, just as the 03 Cobra was. I'm not going to get into a pissing match, but the GT and Mach1 are completely different beasts, and the Mach1 stock is an even match for a stock LS1 all day long.
I am sorry but I just can't take this anymore. I am one of the biggest storytellers on srtforums. Although all of the kills I have ever posted are real. I raced a mach 1 when I first bought my car. We ran from a 20 mph roll. He pulled about two cars on me when I was stock. I have an 04 srt-4. Now I am modified and have run several mach1's since then. Modded I pull a car to a car and a half on a mach 1 from that same 20mph roll and continue to pull through 100mph on up.

Stock for stock a redline cannot beat an srt-4 with equal drivers. Although it would be a good race. So please explain how in the hell a stock redline is gonna pull a mach 1. Mach 1's are on par with the 05gt's and vice versa. And I promise you, that a stock redline is not gonna pull an 05gt.

I still say the guy raced a gt with a possible mach 1 badging. Mustang owners are notorious for putting fake badging on their ponies...

Nope it makes complete sense for a mid to high 14 sec car to pull on a low 13 sec car.And what are u talking about the redline is faster from the srt 4 from a roll.It makes complete sense considering we trapt like 4 mph more then them stock.
And dynos come in many forms. There are water dynos, chassis dynos, mustang dynos, awd dynos, dynojets, etc.....

No matter what dyno you put the mach 1 on, it is gonna dyno at least 60hp higher than a redline placed on the same dyno.

Even without dynos it makes no difference. Many cars are dyno queens, they dyno high and cant do anything at the track. IE the stage upgrades on the srt don't dyno worth a crap, but put them on the track and you will see the difference.

Bottom line. No mach1 is gonna be beat by a redline unless the damn mach1 is broken...
I went 13.081 @ 108.63 stock in my Mach 1. They dyno around 285-290 RWHP stock. The engines are underrated at 305. Ford actually upped the rating in 2004 to 310 HP, but it's been proven they still have a little more than that. There's a huge difference between a lightly modded GT and a Mach 1. A Mach 1 will still hand a GT it's ass. My car with me in it weighed 3560 lbs and I weigh 156 lbs. Do the math. That's 3404 lbs.

Our redline is also much higher (7050) compared to a GT so we take advantage of gear ratio's much better.

I hope that clears things up.

Also, if you didn't already know:

GT: 16 valve SOHC cast iron 4.6
Mach1: 32 valve DOHC aluminum 4.6
he is pretty modified, for what is available, and a 13.9 has been accomplished with only intake and exhaust. removing our stock exhaust manifold dramatically increases airflow, not to mention he's done little things like p&p the T/B and port matched the heads. i don't see 13.5 out of the question for him at all, especially when i only had my airbox removed and could hold my own with an LT1 firebird on a consistent basis. i didn't beat him from a roll, but we we're dead even until his car switched gears and began to pull.
