i have read about a turbonator (turbonator.com) and it says that you can get up to 35 more hp and 20% better gas mileage. I havnt heard of anyone installing this product but am curious. Has anyone installed this on their redline, plan to, or any other car or know someone that did? Is it smart to install this product?

Gosh...that sounds too good to be true. guess what that means.
Hardcore bullshit.
And if my aunt had balls.....she'd be my uncle.......
I'll believe that when me crap turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert.
Again, the automobile manufacturers get MILLIONS in incentives from the government in the form of tax breaks if they hit mileage (CAFE) bogeys. If it worked like they said, GM would be putting them on Cavaliers and Ford would have them on Crown Vics. And every auto magazine in the world would be freaking out over it.

Since none of that has happened, combined with my understanding of how it allegedly works, I know it's money-wasting bullshit, just like the Tornado, STP gas treatment, most fuel injector cleaners, etc.

Actually SOME fuel injector cleaners do work. I bought some of the Lucas Oil stuff, and got an extra 30+ miles per tank. Not bad if you ask me...
SOME, you're right - Lucas, Redline, some of the high-dollar, race proven stuff. The normal stuff you buy at the gas station or Pep Boys, though, is the exact same formula that is already IN gasoline - gas had detergents, just like Gumout or STP FI cleaner - when you take 8 oz of the stuff and dilute it in 15-20 gallons of fuel, you're increasing the detergent concetration by about 2-3%. Not much, and not worth $3 a bottle.
Well done Jim
Piscataway - you have a Fuddruckers there, right off of 287! I may have to roll up and visit and check out each other's cars!

I learned a lot about all of the flash/whizbang products when I was a regional manager for Super Shops - I went to so many product demos and dyno tests, most of which proved why you SHOULDN'T use the product, I lost count.

These companies show a 5% gain in power - well, duh! I can bump the power on yor engine by 5% by lowering the temperature in the dyno room by 10 degrees...then, I print out the results, and claim victory, and sell the stuff to folks who don't know better. Ain't free enterprise great?
I remember when I was 16, I used to dump octane booster, fuel system cleaner, you name it, into the tank. I thought every $20 item on TV or on the shelves was a miracle product. Man was I wrong alot.

I did, too - my older brothers (MUCH older) were really smitten by these newfangled additives and nearly ran their cars and trucks exclusively on STP Gas Treatment...they wanted me to use all the stuff, and I did - the octane booster, the fuel injector cleaner EVERY tankful...until I was able to see dyno results from real products and see where the adveristers came up with their words.

Hey, it's a great business, at 75-80% profit on a bottle of fuel injector cleaner...
What I think is scarry is these companies are surviving on these products. The fact that people out there are falling for the flim-flam and buying these things is even more scarry :(

People just need to make them self's more informed.....
I got suckered into the whole Prolong craze, still don't know if it was worth it, but I knew if I wanted to impress a girl all I had to do was drain my oil and drive around
My freind put a turbonator on his MR2 (non turbo), it was probably the stupidest thing I ever saw lol. It did zilch to anything, and the worst part was it completely fell off into the engine bay while he was driving and landed on the freeway...lol
