I got my driver's pass yesterday morning. I plan to obliterate the FWD class.

Anyone else with anything fun going?

Actually, I went to a Ferrari event at NOLA a couple years ago: https://auto.ferrari.com/en_US/news-events/events/new-orleans-racing-days/

It wasn't a 1/2-mile event, but rather laps of the actual circuit. In a borrowed 560hp California T, I was hitting 130-140 mph at the end of the front straight, whereas the 1036hp FXX-K was seeing 180-190 mph.

For the Wannagofast experience, I predict similar speeds for my 360 that I hit in the Cali T. Truthfully, it's not worth me renting a truck and trailer, plus paying the entry fee for something I could duplicate for free on the interstate. In fact, I played around at 120 mph last weekend on the way back from Cars and Coffee.

I would be much more interested if it was a true top speed event where I had a couple miles to reach 180 or 190 mph.

But have fun and keep us posted on how you do!

Sure, I could do it for free on the interstate, but the margin of safety is much lower. I've seen the speedo buried on my Redline plenty of times. For events like this, you're paying for more than just going fast.

This way I don't have to worry about traffic, state troopers, or as many hazards in case of catastrophic failure followed by an accident.

Plus I get the added bonus of seeing all sorts of exotics in one place.

I get where you're coming from, but I've spent many, many times more than the entry fee for the WannaGoFast event on admission to the local quarter mile track over the years. You gotta pay to play.

I'll be there on the 22nd, not the 23rd, since I failed to mention that.

Been following the live feed on this and looks like there was a huge wreck by an Alpha20 GTR out of North Carolina. There are conflicting reports, but it's said the car was going 216 when it crashed and the driver didn't survive. Hopefully, Rebel can give us an eyewitness account.

I didn't see the wreck, just the aftermath, but yes. GTR made it's first pass, hit 216, flipped several times. Driver is dead.

I have not made a pass, and looks like I likely won't get to.

Wow, hopefully you at least got to visit Bourbon Street so that the trip wasn't a total waste! >:)
Nope. Got to the hotel about 2200hrs on the 21st, woke up at 0600 the next morning, and left at about 1430hrs to beat the storms.

I did wave as I passed through Mobile both times.
