Wheel Group Buy??

Hey guys, I was thinking of assemblying a group buy from a wheel company and was wondering if anyone of you are interested. As you guys know our pattern is 5x110 42mm offset and that is a odd size most wheel manufacturer's do not make. BUT if we buy a 5+ wheels of the same wheel we can get them custom made. I know Rota wheels will do it for 5 orders on any of thier wheels. I personally dont like Rota so I dont want to go with them (it was just a example). I'm interested in going with Volk Racing TE-37 Bronze or gunmetal, 5Zigen pro-racer gn+, or Volk Racing gram light 57 pro. I would like to get 17x7 or 17x7.5, the last two wheels will run about 300-400 a wheel the te-37's are going to be around 450+ a wheel. They are all forged and lightweight, will help with lessening wheelspin, unsprung weight, braking, acceleration, will be cool also if they ever offer big brake upgrades in the future these wheels will clear. Give me any suggestions on brands, sizing if you guys are interested so we can come to agreement and buy some wheels to make our cars look/perform better.

I like the stock wheels. 17s are a good size, they look good, and the performance is good with the stock rubber. For what you would have to spend to replace them, the small difference in performance is not worth it to me unless the cost would be much lower. Would different rims really help with wheel spin/hop? Never heard that. Fill me in.
wheels that dont exist? I could have sworn they were a saab bolt pattern and Im pretty sure I have seen a lot of those with wheels.

no they wouldnt.. thats what lsd is for. i'd rather spend the $$ on that when it comes out.
that's what I thought. Wider and lower profile tires will help you with traction in turns, but I don't see how they would help prevent your tires from spinning when accelerating straight-line.
Eventually I'd like to get custom wheels, but thats way down the road. The stock rims are forged and the tires are $150 a PIECE... $600 total for 4 tires. Those are damn good tires. I just think its more of a "looks" type mod at this point, seeing as our wheels were specifically designed for how our cars perform.
I just want lsd...

Not true, the Stock tires suck! I've pushed my car to the limits and the tires hold it back. Throw on some 225 width tires(A better tire, Not those Crappy Dunlops it comes with) and it'd be so much nicer.

I really want to see someone take the one of Our rims and weigh it. If its around 22lbs I'm getting some wider rims cause that's the weight I have seen on most 17x8.5in Rims. If lower I might wait untill I start seeing Wider rims at the same weight.
The stock tires don't suck. Maybe our car would benefit from a little wider wheels/tires, but the tires themselves do not suck. Congrats on pushing your car to the limit. But don't you think everyone of us has at this point? I didn't buy my car to not "push it to the limit." Besides, Saturn spent a lot of time at the Nuerburgring testing at handling and rubber. They went with this rubber because it does perform.

I disagree I believe there is way much better tires.
Torque is the reason the tires are bad. In a turn itll handle like a dream holds tight no slipping at all. The problem isnt the tire its the car make belive it or not too much power for the single wheel wonder. Keep the tires or like what was suggested a 225/45-17 will help a little bit but you still will have wheel hop and no hook up. Wait for the elusive LSD to appear and then use the tires for what they are worth.
wider rims wont help, its the type of rubber and the ammount of rubber that contact the surface that give you traction. If you want better traction get a tire with a diffrent tread pattern. If you widen the rim you will also see a decrease in turning radius and or damage suspension components. The current suspension is build to turn those tires, if you widen the rim you put more presure on the suspension when you turn the wheels. If you want wider ones theres places that will widen stock wheels.

there are better tires, but they wont replace lsd. I dont think new tires alone would make that much of a noticable difference with the wheel hop/ torque steer. Now, lsd and better tires/ rims combined would work better ;)

Torque steer isn't noticable to me, wheel hop only happens when it's wet for me. I usually spin em when taking of hard or the squeel. But I don't want better tires because of drag racing. I prefer curves. So that's why the tires suck.

When I take a corner well within the limits of the car and the rubber fails that sucks.

as far as torque steer and wheel hop, it happens all the time. anytime im flooring it you can feel torque steer, but its not like thats going to disappear its a front wheel drive car. but wheel hop is horrible between that first to second shift when your going hard on the car. when is wet i usually just lose traction and spin the tires, not so much on the wheel hop. i agree with blackredline04 im waiting for the lsd upgrades.

When I shift from 1-2 hard I get no wheel hop. I usually end up spinning them. I lose traction hehe.
