my friend may get one. he was telling me the cars he's looking at, he listed "a civic. the fast kind" and i immediately mentioned the ion redline and he's like omfgwtfbbq! saturn!!!! he likes our mutual friend's 98ish coupe. (two door, not three)

What's the gear ratio like, I read it drops out of the power band from 1-2 gears

Well I have never driven a 6 speed but I do wish the RedLine had a 6 speed. The gears are just fine coming up to speed...but you gotta stay in 4th for a long time cause it really drops off in 5th gear mainly because top speed is 145, so the gear still has to be able to handle that top speed. I move into 5th gear around 100 mph. The only thing that creates a snag between 1 and 2nd gear is when i am at low speed and wanting to just continue a low speed...its hard to find a gear that accomodates 15 mph. Like when i am in the neighborhood. Where did you hear it drops in power between 1 and 2? You gotta ask an owner to get the true performance reviews.

Read it in SCC Magazine, but GM said they were still working on it and you're the first person who has one.

So that's good news.

Mine arrived today, will be picking it up Friday/Saturday. I'll give a review after driving it for a few days and can compare it to some of my friends cars.
