Although summer is just starting, I want to plan for next winter. What would you recommend for winter/snow tires?

I've seen a recommendation for Bridgestone's Blizzak WS-50's... any experience/opinions?

Also, my intention is to get an inexpensive (cheap) set of wheels to use for the snows, rather than the hassle of swapping out tires twice a year... anyone have any specific wheels they would suggest? Make/model number, please, if you have that.

Thanks,
jmichna

I had crappy snow tires on my Camaro, and even those worked great. I don't even remember the name at this point. From what I've heard, the Blizzaks are great snow tires. No personal experience, but lots of second hand info.

I am too wondering this, same deal with buying crappo rims with the tires. I should buy them now in the summer, when they MIGHT be on sale...and when I have the money.
I think if you're gonna get crap rims, you can get them pretty cheap anytime, the might be on sale now. For places that bought extras for last winter... I'd think they would have been on sale for a while now though...

JMICHNA or anyone else:
I will sell you my Bridgestone's Blizzak WS-50's tires. I had them on my RedLine this past winter they were great! 215/45/17, I put approx 3,600 miles on them. Excellent condition. I'm looking for 250.00, OBO for them, set of 4. I just want to get rid of them. I will take some pictures if you want some. I'm moving to Tennessee June 1st so I wont need them anymore, getten outta CT.

you may not even be able to buy the blizzaks until next winter, unless somewhere has them in stock. i heard they only produce them for a few weeks before winter, but that could be BS.

I'm planning on purchasing these tires for my redline:

Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3.

These are Performance Winter tires that were developed to blend dry road performance with snow traction and the reviews on the tires are excellent.

Okay, we've got a decent number of tire suggestions (I leaning toward the Blizzak WS-50's specifically for snow performance)...

How about wheel recommendations. Something that looks decent, isn't heavy, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
