In 05 they introduced the "competition package" it has a boost gauge/ladder tach, gunmetal wheels, foglights(standard after 05) and most importantly the Limited Slip Differential Trans. For a track car, get a comp pack!


EDIT: DOH!!! Reading>me, looks like you already knew this, sorry. But yeah they had the very sought after gray recaros in 06, look much better that the blue ones in the 04-05's. So, all in all, the best IRL is an 06 comp pack.

 

Late 05 were a few minor software related tune changes.
07 was the global switch to 56x reluctor wheels, thus a major tune change; hardware and software changes if I remember correctly.
04's have all kinds of goofy shit on them. Different wiring in places, different mounts, etc.

 

The 04 has a different front trans mount then the 05+ Redlines and Cobalts. Get an 05 or newer.

 

So, all in all, the best IRL is an 06 comp pack.

I love my '04 G85 Hybrid with chrome wheels! Ha some of you non-comp packers have the silver wheels..

Something I have always believed but not proven

Us 04s had the reverse wiring issues woot woot. My 04 came with fog lights, LSD, grey recaros, boost guage, etc.inklove:

Wasnt the only year with reverse wiring, mine had it. =) came with fogs, boost and lsd on a 04? I'm incredulous.

04's didnt come with the platic spark plug cover but do have the the little plastic peice on the trunk carpet that picks it up and hooks to where the rear windsheild comes down in that little gutter to keep it out of the way, i believe the latter years didn't have that. And a few silver trim peices around the vents the earlier years didn't have.

I think you mean fuel rail cover. I too have the plastic hanger in the trunk, but I noticed when I had dw2b22's 04 that he did not.

My 04......

Black, no COMP, armrest, sunroof, AAS, compass/temperature rearview mirror, no fuel rail cover, has plastic hang for trunk carpet, blue recaros, and silver pin stripe. Thats WAS all stock formation.

Only in the cars with the competition package. 07 also had all leather seats that are not recaro.

^^^ it would have lsd, ladder tach with boost gauge, and gunmetal wheels. 07 is also the rarest due to production date being cut short.

My '06 has that tab in the trunk.

And yah mine had a compass with temperature reading in the rearview, it was instaled by previous owner which was a shop foreman/tech at the saturn dealer i bought it from. He added the armrest and 20/5% tint to.

06+ had onstar standard, and thus have the little shark fin antenna. some very early '04s had a different aero wing

I can confirm this...and it makes a very good table when eating.
